Based in Tokyo and Kyoto we visit the best of private and public gardens in Japan. Explore some of these fabulous gardens in spring at blossom time. We stay at first class hotels offering an ideal base to discover these fascinating cities. We visit around 30 gardens in Japan and also take the trip of a lifetime to Mount Fuji.

We can arrange your flight and have recourse to excellent group rates without obligation. There might be additional transfer fees for anyone not booking their flight through KPGT.

Please note travel to gardens is by public transport, cost not included. There is a lot of walking involved so please ensure you are physically fit.

Itinerary

Day 1: Travel to Japan, we can arrange your flight.

Day 2: Pre-arranged transfer to our 5 star luxury hotel, Seiyo Ginza in Tokyo for 3 nights on a bed and breakfast basis. The rest of your day is free to explore or relax. We meet for dinner, included.

Day 3: Optional visit to Mount Fuji including Lake Ashi.

Day 4: We have arranged entry to the Royal Palace Gardens, we'll also visit a temple and shrine as well as important gardens in the area.

Day 5: We transfer by bullet train to our 5 star hotel on a bed and breakfast basis, The Westin Miyako in Kyoto set in its own fabulous gardens. The rest of your day is at leisure in Kyoto.
Day 6: Sightseeing in Kyoto includes the Handicraft centre, gates, temples, pagodas and the Kyoto botanic garden. Early evening is time for geisha spotting.

Day 7: A full day visiting the gardens of Kyoto including Ginkaku-ji, the Heian shrine, we'll take the philosopher's walk to Nanzen-ji and perhaps one or two gardens not normally open to the public.

Day 8: Nijo Castle in the morning. The rest of your day is at leisure. Join me for an optional afternoon tour of Nishijn textiles and a teahouse ceremony in the or the royal palace gardens and an afternoon performance at the Gion Corner.

Day 9: We make an early start to Ryoan-ji, then walk to Kinkakuji temple, we'll visit two more gardens this morning. This afternoon we travel towards Nara to visit at least two gardens.

Day 10: We have a full day at the Daikotu-ji complex which includes 12 beautiful gardens - we'll visit all open to the public including the famous Ryoan-ji and Daisen-in.

Day 11: Pre-arranged transfer to Tokyo by first class travel on the bullet train. The rest of your day is at leisure. We get together for a farewell meal, included.

Day 12: Pre-arranged transfer to Narita airport, Tokyo for your flight home.
